A group of modern day metis voyageurs are making their
way across Northwestern Ontario.
Six metis youth are canoeing from Thunder Bay to Batoche,
Saskatchewan in time for the “Back to Batoche” celebrations.
Glen Lepinsky is with the Metis Nation of Ontario and
says for one of the young canoeists, Jeremy Brown, the trip
will be a home coming.
N060 Q:”…on them.” 25 secs
Lepinsky says the trip is historically correct and will
follow the route their metis ancestors followed 100 years
ago.
The group will arrive at Kenora’s Harbourfront on Friday
at noon.
