Wabigoon Ice Road Is Closed

Back and forth stories on whether or not the ice road is open or not, prompted CKDR to get down to the bottom of things.
Chairman of Lake Wabigoon Ice Road Committee, Brian Davidson, shares his story.
“The opening of the ice road was full of slush, the plow man spent all of December trying to open the road and we simply ran out money.”
After that the wind came and drifts filled in the ice road and it had to be closed.
However, it was then re-opened because ice shack owners hired B & M to take a loader out and clear the road.
Davidson says the loader has opened it, but the track he made is unsafe to use, it is wet and bumpy.
Davidson says they are waiting for another machine to continue to widen the road, but right now it’s impassable.
As it stands, both the north and south ends of the ice road are closed.
