It was a pretty quiet long weekend for Ministry of Natural Resources fire crews in northwestern Ontario.
There were just four new fires reported in the region, and two are still considered active.
Fire information officer Travis Moffatt says two of the fires were located in the Sioux Lookout District, while the other two were in the Nipigon District.
He says the fires are still under investigation, but says
some thunder storms had passed through the region a couple of days earlier and lightning could have been responsible.
The fire hazard across most of the region is low to moderate, but Moffatt says in the far north, the hazard has moved into the high range.
