Whitefeather another step forward

The Pikangikum First Nation in northwestern Ontario is another step forward in its bid to take over forestry activity in its traditional land use area.

Earlier this week, the provincial government approved a land use strategy for the Whitefeather Forest.

Karan Aquino is an advisor for the project and says its been 10 years of hard work to bring Whitefeather to this point.

N004 Q: …planning exercise. (25 secs.)

Aquino says it will still be a few years before the community gains a sustainable forest licence and is able
to begin any forestry activity in Whitefeather.
